TV Sewer Camera Inspection (Private Customers)

The TV inspection is the second essential step in condition assessment.

Employees of Augustin Entsorgung Kassel use a pan-and-tilt camera system for their work, allowing the pipe connections to be surveyed from different angles. Positional deviations and directional changes of up to 90° are no obstacle for the camera. We measure your sewer line and also record the lateral connections. This inspection allows the tightness of a pipe connection to be documented and verified.

camFlex cameras and camera transporters for TV sewer inspection

A sewer inspection reveals whether there is clearly visible damage in the pipework on your property. A TV camera is pushed through the pipes and films the entire sewer line on your property. This determines whether any damage is present and, if so, what kind — or confirms that everything is in order.

As a rule, we first carry out an optical inspection, in which TV cameras are inserted into the pipes — usually via the inspection chamber. Since a complete inspection including all side branches is required, we use pan-and-tilt cameras that can inspect and clean the pipes along with all sub-branches.

As-Built Plan

If the entire sewer network is to be recorded through a TV inspection, it makes sense to also create a new as-built plan at the same time.

With our pan-and-tilt Cam-Flex camera, we can carry out a TV inspection and cleaning with condition assessment in any branched sewer line. If an old as-built plan exists, it is loaded onto the inspection unit’s computer prior to the TV inspection, and the pipe routes are automatically drawn in during the inspection. This allows us to verify whether the sewers were actually built as planned according to the architect’s specifications. If no as-built or drainage plan exists, employees of tkm-Service GmbH can create one themselves using Google Earth (see below).

Documentation

Documentation of the TV sewer inspection

An inspection without documentation of the results is worthless under the EKVO. Our service technician will provide you with a DVD or USB stick containing the following:

  • Digital video of the TV inspection
  • Pipeline reports and graphics with images of damage showing the condition of your sewer lines
  • As-built plan/sketch of your drainage system when the Cam-Flex camera is used, which can later be referenced for any planned modifications to the sewer network (see TV report)

You will also receive a CD/DVD containing: recording of the TV survey, reports, images, and the new as-built plan. If damage is found in the pipe during a TV sewer inspection, our certified sewer rehabilitation consultant will prepare a rehabilitation concept for you free of charge, in accordance with legal requirements. The rehabilitation plan is also included on the data storage device. Naturally, all plans and reports created can also be printed at the desired scale upon request.

Typical Damage in Property Drainage Systems

Property drainage systems can exhibit a wide range of damage patterns. This damage may be due to age, wear, or improper installation during the original construction of the house. The main problem is leaky pipe connections: depending on the groundwater level, this can lead to wastewater leaking out or groundwater seeping in. In some cases, soil erosion around the pipes can also cause structural stability issues.

Typical damage can include:

  • Positional deviations in the sewer pipes, e.g. horizontal, vertical, or axial
  • Longitudinal, transverse, and radial cracks
  • Pipe fractures or collapses
  • Shard formation
  • Deposits/incrustations
  • Root intrusion
  • Flow obstructions, such as protruding connections

Beware of Door-to-Door Offers – Cowboy Operators Are Everywhere!

A TV inspection of your property drainage system for 10 to 50 euros is not legitimate. The subsequent rehabilitation work then usually costs between 10,000 and 20,000 euros. Please note that in legitimate advertisements, the company name, full address, and landline number (not a mobile number!) are always provided.

A reputable TV inspection and sewer cleaning service with a new as-built plan, including consultation, costs between 200 and 500 euros depending on the length of the sewer lines, while rehabilitation work costs between 1,000 and 3,000 euros.
