Sewer inspection

To preserve the condition and value of your drainage network’s pipes, regular inspections and maintenance are required for the disposal of surface water, rainwater, or wastewater. Scheduled inspections help prevent functional issues. Whether indoors or outdoors, above ground or deep underground: Augustin Entsorgung delivers. This applies to landfill pipelines as well as standard rainwater or wastewater lines. Augustin Entsorgung is optimally equipped for this essential preventive measure.

Augustin Entsorgung operates fully equipped inspection vehicles. All vehicles are additionally fitted with a push-camera system, covering everything from NW 50 up to DN 2000. In addition, many of these vehicles are equipped with satellite technology, meaning that CCTV inspection runs of lateral connections are carried out from the main sewer.

Our “IBAK MiniLite” push systems are compact push-camera systems for inspecting house and property drainage systems. They feature simple operation via a splash-proof 10-inch touch display and a joystick. The operator has flexible handling options: using a finger, a pencil, or connecting a keyboard. Text entries and the saving of image or video files are carried out on the integrated PC with the IKAS Recorder. Data exchange is via USB stick. In combination with the ORION camera, optional locating or laser measurement can be performed.

Depending on requirements, the system can also be equipped with an extension function and software. For straightforward projects without complex data exchange formats, IKAS mini is available. With this software, inspections for wastewater systems can be recorded in accordance with the Europe-wide standard EN 13508-2.

The inspection result is documented in clear reports, either on paper or as a PDF. If specific data exchange formats are required or a 3D site plan is to be created, a full IKAS system can be installed.

Main sewers from DN 150 are inspected using the ORPHEUS or the ARGUS from IBAK.

The ORPHEUS is a pan-and-tilt camera that can be used from DN 150. It combines the proven functionalities of the ORION—such as full rotation of the camera head and automatic panning to pipe sockets—with a zoom lens and laser reference measurement. Two integrated lasers, in combination with the IBAK IKAS sewer analysis software, enable convenient damage measurement. The 10x optical zoom and automatic zeroing further enhance the camera. Protected by impact-resistant transparent protective housings, the integrated LEDs provide excellent illumination. This allows the ORPHEUS to optimally cover a large inspection area in medium pipe diameters. Integrated sensors for pressure monitoring and optional explosion protection reliably safeguard the system and the operating environment. The IBAK ORPHEUS can be modularly connected to all IBAK camera crawlers as well as to a manhole adapter.

The IBAK ARGUS is a pan, tilt and swivel-head camera that can be switched at the push of a button to meet the specific requirements of any given job. Using preset buttons, swivel mode or tilt mode can be selected. With the ARGUS, the camera image remains upright and correctly oriented at all times thanks to the ROTAX swivel mechanism—even when the camera head is panning, rotating or tilting—so the viewer can easily maintain orientation. The integrated, adjustable power LEDs provide optimal illumination both at close range and at distance. CCTV inspection runs are also possible in larger pipe diameters without additional lighting. The separately switchable left and right swivelling lights make it easier to clearly identify damage. With the integrated, switchable socket-gap illumination and the automatic panning function, the ARGUS truly lives up to its name.

IBAK has optimized the benefits of autofocus with the innovative “one-push autofocus”. After every change in position of the pan-and-tilt camera head, or when returning it to neutral, the autofocus is triggered once and immediately produces a sharp image. The laser functionality for determining diameter and deformation as well as for damage measurement is optimally matched to the IBAK sewer analysis software.

The IBAK LISY module turns the T 76 and T 86 crawlers into a lateral inspection system that can be used from a main sewer diameter of DN 150. A folding joint ensures easy insertion even where the channel invert bends.

With the modular height-adjustment elements, the crawler with LISY can be easily adapted to the pipe diameter.

From the main sewer, LISY enables the inspection of lateral connections from DN 100. The plug-in control camera ensures a convenient workflow—it provides continuous monitoring of the standing position and assists with threading in and advancing the inspection camera.

For flushing and inspection in a single operation, the push rod of the LISY synchronous winch or the KT 220 can be supplemented with the PHOBOS flushing nozzle.

In combination with the T 76 / T 86 crawler, LISY is a robust and durable inspection system that meets individual requirements and impresses with both its high feed speed and its ease of handling.

As software for recording sewer CCTV inspection data, we use IKAS 32. With the IKAS 32 Report Viewer, the inspection data (reports, videos or statistics) can be shared and reviewed on any media (DVD, USB, CD).

Thanks to its modular design and optional expandability, IKAS 32 can be quickly and easily adapted to different requirements. Even the basic system is available for different working environments.

IKAS 32 is equipped with various interface modules, including ATV-M150, ISYBAU96, ISYBAUXML, among others. It provides the input mask, reference tables, inspection reports, coding systems, as well as data import and export. This gives the operator maximum data security—from validated data entry through to compliant data transfer to the client.

For sewer CCTV inspection of property drainage with an automatically generated geo-referenced site plan, we use the IKAS 32 Navigator.

It is an assistant for recording changes in direction along the pipeline route during the CCTV inspection run. By optically evaluating the video image, the operator’s required inputs for bends/elbows are replaced by simple mouse clicks.

With the NAVIGATOR assistant and the cameras’ upright, correctly oriented image, data capture is carried out during the inspection without any additional time expenditure—and independently of the inspector’s individual assessment. The NAVIGATOR assistant replaces estimation with an evaluation of the video image. In addition, the change in direction is stored not only in the clock-face scheme but also with degree-accurate resolution. The direction data obtained in this way automatically produces the three-dimensional course of a pipeline. Using a geo-referenced reference point, this pipeline course can be fitted into a site plan of the pipeline network, thereby supplementing the inspection report. The IKAS 32 plan component then automatically generates the pipeline course. Its three-dimensional X, Y, Z coordinates are stored in the sewer database and can be transferred directly to any GIS databases.
