CCTV Sewer Inspection (Commercial Customers)

CCTV Sewer Inspection

The core of the tkm service package is the CCTV sewer inspection. Our vehicles are equipped as standard with special pan-and-tilt cameras for precise examination of your wastewater networks. The tkm equipment allows inspection of lengths of up to 450 m – even in explosion-protection zones. Deployments in industry and at landfills are therefore among the particular strengths of tkm-Service GmbH.

Cleaning and inspecting connection pipes for property drainage is often associated with significant challenges. Missing inspection shafts, corroded cleaning openings, heavy root intrusion, and high levels of contamination in the connections make the work of the tkm Service team more difficult. In many cases, cleaning and inspection can only be carried out from the connection to the main sewer.

Using satellite cameras based on push-rod technology, the tkm inspectors carry out high-pressure cleaning and professional damage assessment in a single operation without a positioning unit for a main sewer nominal diameter of DN 200 to DN 400 mm, and with a positioning unit from DN 500 up to DN 1,200 mm for special profiles such as egg, box, and mouth profiles.

With the system specially developed by tkm for property drainage, wastewater networks up to 100 m in length can be cleaned and inspected quickly and efficiently. Branches, bends, significant pipe joint offsets, deposits, and root intrusion present an obstacle only in a few isolated cases.

Satellite Camera

Satellite cameras based on push-rod technology are the ultimate solution for cleaning and CCTV sewer inspection of house connections – effective and cost-saving. For this reason, tkm-Service GmbH has also acquired three vehicles equipped with this innovative technology to serve its diverse range of customers from industry, cities and municipalities, as well as private homeowners.

Operating Principle
The satellite camera is flushed into the drainage pipe and positioned in front of the branch to be examined. For the turning maneuver, the special scissor mechanism is extended. Once the scissor tip has found a support point on the pipe wall, the camera is pushed into the connection using a pressing motion against the pipe wall. After successfully turning, the scissor mechanism—needed solely for turning and overcoming pipe joint offsets and obstacles—is fully retracted back into the camera housing. Several branches can then be flushed through using the same procedure. The retractable guide mechanism ensures a consistently clear and unobstructed camera image. One of the key criteria for pipe tightness is flawless pipe connections. These can be fully swiveled 90° and rotated through a full circle with the Lindauer Schere. Even hard-to-reach areas can be swiveled into and inspected using this retractable guide mechanism.

With the Lindauer Schere, inspection of lateral sewers (house connection sewers) can be carried out from the main sewer.

Lindauer Schere (LS)

The Lindauer Schere (LS) is a turnable camera system for property and house connection inspection. It is a patented, turnable color pan-and-tilt camera for the comprehensive recording and documentation of property drainage systems. The technology of the LS makes it possible, starting from inspection openings and shafts as well as functioning as a satellite camera from the main sewer, to inspect and document the entire property drainage system with all its branches and ramifications, and, in combination with the 3D sewer course surveying system ASYS, to additionally survey it.

Technical Data

  • turnable color pan-and-tilt camera for comprehensive inspection and recording
  • consistently clear view thanks to retractable guide mechanism
  • enables 90° swiveling onto joints and damage as well as a full 360° rotation
  • branch-to-branch turning maneuvers are also possible
  • suitable for main sewer dimensions from DN 100 to 1,400 mm, including egg profiles
  • ranges of up to 120 m into branching pipelines
  • cleaning and inspection in a single operation
  • flushed-out debris can drain away unobstructed under free-flow conditions
  • additional option of 3D surveying of the inspected pipelines

Applications of the Lindauer Schere

  • as a satellite camera starting from the main sewer
  • as a mobile unit starting from inspection openings and control shafts

Georeferenced 3D Sewer Course Surveying

With the geoASYS bop system and the technology of the Lindauer Schere, it is now possible for the first time to survey the positional course of underground pipelines on a georeferenced basis.

With the ASYS variant geoASYS (georeferenced 3D sewer course surveying), an automatic reference of the building connection pipes to the coordinate system of the main sewer network (e.g. Gauss-Krüger) is made possible. This “automatic” georeferencing is achieved through a direct link to the main sewer section, whose start and end shaft coordinates are known. The import of these shaft coordinates and the subsequent export of the recorded pipelines take place via the existing interfaces to various databases or geographic information systems.

Asys As-Built Plan

Kieler Stäbchen

The ORION is a camera system for property and house connection inspection, while the ORION L is a turnable camera system for inspecting sewers beneath the house’s foundation slab. It is a patented turnable color pan-and-tilt camera for the comprehensive recording and documentation of property drainage systems. The camera technology makes it possible, starting from inspection openings and shafts as well as functioning as a satellite camera from the main sewer, to inspect the entire property drainage system with all its branches and ramifications.

The IBAK ORION is the all-rounder for inspecting pipelines from DN 100 upward. Any desired viewing direction is achieved via the pan-and-tilt head without mechanical stops and via sensor control in the fastest possible way. The camera can automatically swivel around pipe joints and delivers an always upright image in axial view (UPC = Upright Picture Control). An intelligent LED lighting system beneath highly impact-resistant, transparent protective housings ensures homogeneous illumination of the field of view. In short: precision technology that impresses.
The switchable locating transmitter, internal pressure monitoring, and optional explosion protection are examples of integrated safety features. The built-in laser allows convenient diameter and deformation measurements to be carried out and documented during the inspection inside the sewer pipe.
The ORION pan-and-tilt camera can be connected to all camera transporters of the IBAK MODULAR series, the LISY 150-M satellite system, and all IBAK “Magic Push Rod” push rods.

Technical System Data IBAK ORION 2.7:

  • Pan-and-tilt camera
  • Application range from DN 100
  • Push rod and transporter operation
  • Upright image (UPC)
  • Integrated locating transmitter, remotely switchable
  • Laser-assisted diameter and deformation measurement
  • Damage and object surveying
  • Pressure-monitored

For use in branching pipe networks, the special version of the IBAK ORION pan-and-tilt camera is deployed: the IBAK ORION L.
Its guide unit, the “Kieler Stäbchen,” can be rotated and tilted in all directions and smoothly steers the camera into the target sewer. The rapid turning capability and high mechanical load capacity have long established the exceptional position of the ORION L among turnable camera systems for property drainage inspection.

Usable from DN 100, this camera features the distinctive ORION characteristics: full rotational capability of the camera head with an always upright image (UPC = Upright Picture Control), remote-controlled steering of the viewing direction and all lens functions, as well as internal pressure monitoring. Specially arranged LEDs optimally illuminate the inspection area and ensure an outstanding image that reveals even the smallest damage.
