Sorting and Processing

of Recyclables and Waste

Circular economy
Collection, sorting, processing

To help shape a further step in the circular economy, we process a wide variety of materials so that they can be sent for material recovery or used as alternative fuels.

Material Recovery

To enable waste materials, such as films or rigid plastics, metals, wood, or paper and cardboard, to be sent for material recovery—i.e., reuse—they are sorted by type. (e.g., in our plastic sorting plant)
After sorting, the recyclables are pressed into bales (80x80x120 cm) and made available for further transport for processing or placed in interim storage. These include plastic processors, paper mills, or steelworks.

Energy Recovery

Mixed waste and residues from waste sorting are shredded to a defined particle size and then screened to remove sand components. This material is then used for energy generation in combined heat and power plants or incineration plants. In the end, only ash remains, which is once again cleared of metals before being landfilled.

Plastic Processing
In our plastic recycling plant, the sorted plastic waste is shredded, cleaned, and dried. The plastic goes through a total of seven different processing steps and, after the recycling process, can be directly processed into products such as cable ducts, rain barrels, or drainage pipes.

Paper Processing
A distinction is made between many different qualities of paper and cardboard. These are collected separately and pressed into bales. Most cardboard is used to manufacture products such as toilet paper and new cardboard packaging.

Recycled Aggregate
Construction waste consisting of stones and concrete is shredded by us in a special crushing plant and then screened. Screening results in different particle sizes. This material is used as an alternative to natural gravel in road and path construction, as well as under driveways or paved paths.

Wood
Waste wood is shredded, stripped of iron and metal, and transported to processing companies.
